So press the Win and X keys together.

Now type the three letters “cmd” and press Enter.

At the flashing cursor, enter a drive letter. Press Enter. For example, chkdsk tool - type in the command. One important nuance: there is a difference between “d:” and “/”).

Method 3. Use Bootrec, if you have the Windows install disk

First, you need to boot from the original Windows installation disk. Now open Command Prompt and enter the following commands in order (press Enter after each command):

  • bootrec/FixMbr
  • bootrec/FixBoot
  • bootrec/ScanOs
  • bootrec/RebuildBcd

Now you need to get the boot disk and enter the last command; exit and confirm the action by pressing Enter.

Reboot the computer. Does the message “Unable to reset your PC: required drive partition is missing” still bother you? Then you have one way out: Method 4.

Method 4. Reinstall Windows
