Enabling SSH on a Virtual Server
There are two different methods of enabling SSH connectivity on a virtual server.
Method 1: via vSphere Client
You can enable SSH on a ESX (ESXi) 5 server via vSphere Client.
1. First start the vSphere Client
2. Select the ESXi host in the configuration tab
3. Select Security Profile
- 4. Click on Properties in the upper right corner. A popup window listing all services on your ESXi 5.0 hosts will appear. Select “SSH” and press the Options button.
5. Now you can start the services and set its startup options
6. Press OK.
Method 2: via ESX (ESXi) server
Enable SSH on ESXi 5 via console.
Press F2 on the console (<F2> Customize System/View Logs)
Enter your root password and go enter "Troubleshooting Options"
Select "Enable SSH"
You have successfully enabled SSH connectivity.
